Think of the JMEV 01 as the budget-friendly alternative to the upcoming second-generation Tesla Roadster. Priced from $41,300 USD, it’s powered by two synchronous permanent magnet motors—one on the front axle and one on the rear—delivering all-wheel drive, generating a combined output of 429 horsepower.
That’s enough power to propel this lightweight car—tipping the scales at just 3,009 lbs—from 0 to 60 mph in a claimed 3.9 seconds. The battery is mid-mounted within a chromium-molybdenum steel tube frame chassis, which keeps the weight low and balanced.

First unveiled as the SC-01 in 2022, it went quiet for a while before resurfacing with JMEV branding, showing the twists and turns of EV development in China’s crowded market.

The JMEV 01 could compete more directly with mid-tier electric sports cars like the MG Cyberster (429 hp in its base trim, but heavier at 4,300 lbs, with a 3.2-second 0-60 in its top dual-motor version) or even the Porsche Taycan’s lower trims (around 400 hp). The project got a significant boost with financial backing from tech giant Xiaomi, and it’s set to hit the Chinese market on April 15, 2025
