Ben Collins, better known as The Stig on Top Gear, recently got behind the wheel of a Lucid Air Sapphire edition and managed to achieve an 8.989 second quarter mile run at Sonoma Raceway, which is a tad bit faster than the 9.3 second Tesla Model S Plaid.
Can a $187,400 USD Porsche Taycan Turbo S beat a $180,500 Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance in an EV drag racing showdown? The former boasts a dual-motor powertrain that generates 761 hp and 774 lb-ft of torque, all in a 5,060-pound package. Now its competition also packs two electric motors that produce 1,050 hp and 1,025 lb-ft of torque in a 5,254-pound package.
The Lucid Air Dream Edition boasts a dual motor, all-wheel drive powertrain that produces 1,111hp, but is it fast enough to take on the Porsche Taycan Turbo S? Well, even with the overboost function activated, the latter makes around 750hp, so that may already be a sign of things to come in a drag racing showdown.
