The Smart #1 is the company’s first all-electric compact SUV, and it’s a doozy. Featuring a centralized, high-performance computing architecture that ensures dynamic over the air updates so that over 75% of all ECUs in the car can be continuously iterated and updated remotely (OTA).
The launch model boasts a 200kW peak performance and is capable of AC charging from 10-80 % with 22kW in just 3-hours or less than 30-minutes using DC super-fast charging. On a full charge of its 66 kWh battery pack, you can expect up 273-miles of range. It’s powered by a single rear-mounted motor that generates 262 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. Plus, you can connect the Smart #1 with friends utilizing the app, compete with a digital key that has a peer-2-peer-system. There’s no word yet on pricing, but production is expected to commence later this year, with deliveries starting in 2023.
