Second-Generation Xpeng P7 Sedan 2025
It’s 2025, and the electric vehicle wars are hotter than a lithium-ion battery under stress test. Tesla’s still the name to beat, but Chinese automaker XPeng is rolling up with a freshly unveiled weapon—the second-generation XPeng P7. Revealed on May 14, 2025, this sleek sedan isn’t just a facelift; it’s a full-on reinvention, codenamed E29, designed to take on the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal while flexing some serious AI muscle. After spending a week geeking out over the specs, design teasers, and posts from X, I’m here to break down why the new P7 might just be the EV to watch this year.

XPeng P5
XPeng Motors has just announced its third production model, the XPeng P5. It’s touted as the world’s first production smart EV equipped with automotive-grade LiDAR technology, complete with Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) capabilities for city roads, all powered by a proprietary full-stack autonomous driving system, the XPILOT 3.5. This autonomous driving architecture consists of 32 perception sensors (including 2 LiDAR units, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 5 millimeter-wave radars, and 13 high-resolution cameras) and 1 high-precision positioning unit (GNSS + IMU), integrated into 360° dual-perception fusion to provide sufficient redundancy across the perception sensors to handle tough road conditions.
