Jay Leno places Wilhelm Schmid in an enviable bind by handing over the keys to two of his Porsches and sending him out on the twisting roads just outside Los Angeles to decide which one he would take home. Schmid, the CEO of A. Lange & Söhne and a confirmed Porsche owner already, has never driven either of these particular models. His own garage holds a 1966 911 2.0-liter S and a 1959 356 Roadster, while Leno’s collection of Lange watches sits as the quiet counterpart to the visit. Leno bought every one of those watches himself.

Mat Watson lined up two of Italy’s fiercest plug-in hybrid supercars on the CarWow strip for a straight-line battle that refused to settle quickly. One side brought a lighter, sharper Ferrari. The other brought raw V12 force and four-wheel drive, and the result stayed tight from start to finish.

Mike G of mike.g.concepts has created a digital design that takes the BMW 2002 Turbo and turns it into an electric machine called the i2002 Turbo. This CGI project draws directly from the original car that helped define BMW performance in the 1970s while adding the powertrain of a future M model.

A plain cargo box on four wheels just rolled into the spotlight at IAA Transportation in Hanover, and it has no place for a person to sit. Stellantis Pro One, working with Chinese autonomy specialist UQI Robotics, calls the project BOW. The letters stand for Box On Wheels, and the name is as straightforward as the machine itself.

Chinese manufacturer BYD has rolled out its flagship heavy-duty electric tractor at the IAA Transportation show in Hannover. Called the ETT 44, this 4×2 tractor aims straight at long-haul routes across Europe and arrives with numbers that put it in direct conversation with every other battery-electric semi on the market, including the Tesla Semi.
