NASA researchers have developed a 3D-printed prototype Shapeshifter robot that is comprised of smaller robots that can transform into rolling spheres, flying drones, swimming submersibles and lots more. The eventual goal of this concept is a transformational vehicle capable of exploring treacherous, distant worlds. This flying amphibious robot is an early-stage research program NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC).
