1,000hp BMW M3 vs Ferrari SF90 Drag Racing
Two machines are gearing up for a quarter-mile showdown that’s set to flip the script on what a family wagon can do. In one corner, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, a plug-in hybrid supercar with a price tag soaring past $750,000 and a rep for scorching speed. In the other, a BMW M3 Touring, cranked up to a beastly 1,000 horsepower by G-tech Motor-Works.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, paired with three electric motors, pumps out 986 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, sent to all four wheels. It blasts from 0 to 60 mph in about 2.5 seconds and nails a factory-claimed 9.6-second quarter-mile.

Then there’s the BMW M3 Touring, with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six churning out 523 horsepower in its factory form. But G-tech Motor-Works took it to another level, unleashing a 1,000-horsepower beast with 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque. Priced around £150,000 (about $192,000) with its upgrades, or a fraction of what the SF90 costs.

Carwow’s drag race is all about keeping things simple: a straight-up quarter-mile sprint, no second chances. In the first round, the Ferrari rockets off the line, its electric motors unleashing a lightning-fast surge, but the BMW’s raw muscle fights back hard.

The third run clinches it. The BMW’s launch control nails the start, powering through the quarter-mile in 9.4 seconds, leaving the SF90 in its dust at 9.7 seconds. The Ferrari’s steady performance is no joke, but the M3’s raw power is just too much. Rolling starts, tested in both comfort and sport modes, paint a similar picture. In efficient mode, the BMW crushes it as the SF90’s hybrid system seems to stutter, while sport mode tightens the race but can’t stop the M3’s relentless charge. This tuned-up wagon’s ability to turn 1,000 horsepower into real-world domination is nothing short of mind-blowing.
