Can a 2024 Ford Mustang GT beat a BMW M2 Competition in a drag race? CarWow’s Mat Watson wanted to find out, so he pit both sports cars against each other at an empty airfield.
Starting things off, we have the UK variant of the 2024 Ford Mustang GT, powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.0L V8 engine making 453 hp and 393 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. As for the BMW M2 Competition, it draws power from a twin-turbocharged 3.0L straight-six engine producing 480 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

I am a Mustang owner myself. The worst thing you can do in those is use the paddle shifters. That was really annoying to watch! The best way to do it is to put it in dragstrip mode, advancedtrac off (press and hold traction control switch/button), and brake boost @2krpm IN AUTOMATIC NO PADDLE SHIFTERS!,” said one commenter.
