Ford and RTR Vehicles have teamed up to offer the 2026 Mustang EcoBoost with an optional RTR Package, the first factory-built RTR-badged Mustang. If you like track days or spirited backroad adventures you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained and the price is reasonable compared to the V8 giants.
Engineers started with the EcoBoost’s 2.3L turbo four-cylinder engine making 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic. The engine is the same but the package includes anti-lag technology borrowed from Ford’s Le Mans winning GT race car. Instead of the big bursts of turbo boost you see in rally cars this one keeps the turbo spooled during abrupt throttle lifts so you can make quick corrections in tight corners or drifts. Gittin lobbied hard for this feature and Ford’s engineers modified their existing patented technology to make it road legal and reliable.

Handling is the package’s foundation, drawing heavily from more expensive siblings. The rear subframe is from the Dark Horse, securing the back end for more grip and stability. Front and rear sway bars from the Dark Horse Handling Pack reduce body roll during hard cornering. Adjustable strut top mounts allow you to set front camber to your driving style whether you’re chasing apexes or holding a slide. A new steering gear provides more travel so you can initiate and sustain oversteer on a skid pad.
Stability control gets a special tune in Track mode that intervenes later than stock so you can explore sideways without it jerking you straight too soon. Perfect for developing skills. Optional MagneRide dampers adjust in real time for quicker handling and Ford includes a dealer friendly alignment spec that optimizes toe and camber across all four wheels for maximum tire contact. The Electronic Drift Brake, a hand operated tool to lock the rear during corners, is standard along with the Active-Valve Performance Exhaust with quad tips for that signature rumble.

Braking matches the bravado with Brembo brakes from the GT Performance Package, six pistons up front and four in the back. They clamp down hard after a hot lap which is key for a car that’s meant to be pushed. Gittin describes the result as an EcoBoost that’s eager and friendly with a 54/46 weight distribution that sharpens the front and balances power delivery. Shaughnessy says the rear subframe swap changed testing overnight, the tail plants exactly where you want it.

The Hyper Lime Exterior Package swaps out the black calipers for bright green ones and adds matching accents to the trim. Inside, Hyper Lime stitching runs across the dash, center console, door pockets and even the drift brake lever, with matching seat belts. You can opt for a black interior for no extra cost, but either way, co-branded lighted sill plates greet you at every entry. A serialized badge adds to the limited run feel and the 12.4-inch digital cluster and 13.2-inch touchscreen boot up with RTR animations – subtle reminders this is more than just a Mustang.

Ford also offers a plug-and-play tune from their Performance Parts catalog that adds 350 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. while keeping the warranty. Gittin calls it a game changer for enthusiasts who want more without the hassle. Shaughnessy notes it includes the drift brake and exhaust so you don’t have to dig through the options list to find the important stuff.
The RTR Package is only available on the EcoBoost Fastback in High or Premium trim, starting at $36,510 or $38,340. Pricing for the add-ons won’t be announced until closer to launch but the focus is on attracting younger drivers who would otherwise not buy a V8. Deliveries start summer 2026 with pre-production cars already showing up at events like the Formula Drift finale in Long Beach this weekend.
