Scuderia Ferrari returns to the Fiorano Circuit this year with a brand new car, and it looks and feels like the team has never left, despite the fact that everything about this vehicle is new. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are the lucky (or unlucky) ones to get to pilot this SF-26 through what promises to be an exciting 2026 season, and this vehicle represents the tremendous changes that the team and the racing world are facing.
The SF-26 is essentially a whole new car designed from the ground up. Ferrari’s engineers abandoned the ground-effect aerodynamics that had recently characterized the cars in favor of considerably neater, sleeker looks. The end product can only be described as looking considerably lighter and more agile, a great triumph of efficiency over overwhelming complication. Active aerodynamics play an important part here, since the front and rear wings can now change between turns and straights. This reduces drag in high-speed areas while still providing downforce when needed. Ferrari began advertising this in the early days, and we got to witness it in action at Fiorano quite early on.

With the new rules in mind, the suspension has been adjusted. The front and rear now use push-rod actuation. This is a reversion to old habits following a brief experiment with the pull-rod. The frame is once again made of carbon fiber composite and honeycomb structure, and there is still a halo around the driver’s head. Eighteen-inch wheels in the front and back complete the ride.

Where the car will really stand out is in its power delivery. The 067/6 engine retains the 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 architecture, but the hybrid system is in for a shock of its life. Ferrari eliminated the MGU-H and increased the MGU-K’s power to 350 kW at 60,000 rpm. As a result, battery contribution increases significantly, transforming precise energy management into a high-stakes game for both drivers and engineers. And all of this is being done with 99 percent sustainable fuel, which is a bit of a shift for a squad used to going all out on all-out performance. The power unit is tightly integrated with the frame, providing the smoothest ride possible. This baby has a maximum turbo speed of 150,000 rpm and a direct injection system that can reach 350 bar.

You can’t help but stare at the SF-26, as Ferrari returned to gloss paint after seven years of matte finishes. It’s Rosso Scuderia in all its glory: bright, bold, and stunning. White accents around the cockpit and above the engine provide a stark contrast that recalls Ferrari’s eye-catching hues from the early 2000s. This on-car livery strikes a balance between respecting heritage and moving forward. To make a huge show of it, the driver’s suits have also adopted the appearance, with red as the dominating color and only white for the shoulders and collar. Many on the outside proclaim this the most striking Ferrari in years, with its ultra-streamlined design slashing through the air like a hot knife through butter.

Fred Vasseur is already talking about a new beginning for Scuderia Ferrari with the SF-26 as they face the unknown. The team ensured that the underpinnings are extremely adaptable, allowing for significant development over the 2026 season. Charles Leclerc is working closely with the team to figure out how to understand the hybrid system and all of its quirks, while Lewis Hamilton stated that this is about change on a scale he’s never seen before, and that he’s now got to put his mind to figuring out how to tease out of the car what it has hidden inside.
