For anyone who spent the mid-90s sideways in SEGA Rally Championship, the sight of a white Celica in Castrol colors still lands with force. Real GT-Fours from that era are scarce and expensive. Yet one of the factory WRC Edition cars, finished in the exact livery that defined the game and the World Rally Championship, is sitting on eBay in the UK for under £24,000.
This is a genuine 1994 ST205 GT-Four WRC edition, one of only 2,500 built to meet the FIA homologation criteria, and that’s about it in terms of production. It left the factory with everything a self-respecting motorsport aficionado could desire, including an anti-lag system, and this guy was fortunate enough to import it as a right-hand drive example from Japan. With 76,000 miles on the odometer, it’s not exactly a low-mileage vehicle, but it’s still a far way from the kind of mileage you’d expect from a car that age. The body still wears the complete Castrol livery over the classic white, and let’s be honest, the white Speedline alloys and projector headlights really do give the front end a distinctive look, even better than the original lights would have done back in the day.

Wide fenders, a vented aluminum hood, larger bumper openings and a raised rear spoiler mark it out as the performance flagship of the range. The underbody is described as rust-free and protected by clear underseal, a critical detail for any Japanese performance car that has spent time in British weather. Recent work includes a full service, timing-belt and water-pump replacement, conversion of the speedometer to MPH, and fitment of a rear fog light.
This vehicle has recently received some TLC. It’s had a full service, a timing belt and water pump replacement, and a speedo re-jig to adjust for MPH, however it’s still running with an aftermarket rear fog light (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). Inside, the four seats and overall vintage vibe remain intact, while a TRD gear knob and some new steering wheel give it a bit of a contemporary look. The original-style bucket seats have not disappeared, as the unique 90s designs can still be seen on the drivers and passenger seats.
That’s all before you get to the most crucial part: the engine. The 2.0-litre 3S-GTE four-pot turbo on this car has been outfitted with a front-mounted intercooler, a Koyo radiator, a HKS cold-air intake, a dump valve, and a free-flowing exhaust. Drive is still distributed to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, a viscous center differential, and a Torsen rear unit. Factory road-going GT-Fours produced roughly 248 horsepower as standard; pure WRC vehicles performed even better.
What’s the asking price? A mere £23,995. That’s starting to appear like a tempting offer for a low-mileage, rust-free car that has received all of the necessary TLC and is still wearing the most iconic Castrol livery of its day. Of course, it’s not a stripped-down competition car with a sequential gearbox and all that nonsense; rather, it’s a road-legal, well-maintained piece of Toyota rallying history, ready to take on British roads whenever you want a fun.
