Sure, the partnership between BlackBerry and TCL may have ended last year, but OnwardMobility announced that it will now be developing smartphones for the company, with a 5G Android-based handset coming in the first half of 2021. To make this handset, OnwardMobility formed an alliance with FIH Mobile Limited, a subsidiary of Foxconn, and we know that this new smartphone is going to have a physical keyboard.
That’s right, in addition to 5G and a physical keyboard, it’s also going to sport a high-end camera that could rival flagship devices from other companies. However, the main focus of BlackBerry has always been security, and with that said, OnwardMobility plans on contracting an external cybersecurity company to keep your data safe. Industrial designer Jermaine Smit gives us a preview of what this handset could look like, complete with a rear triple camera array. It would be the successor to the Key 2, which was released in 2018.
