Sometimes, you just want to skip all of the traffic, and the EHang 216 should do the trick. This autonomous two-passenger air taxi sports 16 independent rotors mounted in pairs on eight arms that surround the cabin, enabling it to reach a top speed of 80 mph, while cruising at 62 mph. On a full charge, you can expect around 21 minutes of flight time, which is plenty to get around within a city. It successfully completed its maiden flight in South Korea at the “Open the Urban Sky” UAM Seoul Demo event.
This particular EHang 216 was acquired by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and is the first of its kind in South Korea. It’s officially registered under the Nationality and Registration Mark “HL008X” by MOLIT. The company is set to launch a series of trial flights in more locations across South Korea for a variety of UAM (Urban Air Mobility) uses, such as urban passenger transportation, aerial sightseeing, island hopping and aerial logistics.
