Huawei Technologies filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a ‘mobile terminal’ that could be the rumored Mate 50 Pro 5G smartphone. In the filing, there was a 23-page document that showed sketches of a mobile device with a ‘Arc Display’.
Simply put, it’s a Huawei smarpthone that sports a super-curved display in that the panel wraps around the sides in an arc shape. Why? The Arc Display lets users control the smartphone using touch rather than traditional buttons. This also means that they can be configured for different tasks, like having virtual trigger buttons when gaming or dedicated music controls in your favorite music streaming app. Digging deeper into the patent, you’ll see that Huawei states that the smartphone will come equipped with an AI chip of some sort, cooling system, and stereo speakers.
