MG Cyber X Electric SUV
The MG Cyber X electric SUV stole the show at Auto Shanghai 2025, and it’s the second model in their youth-focused Cyber lineup, after the Cyberster roadster. It has a bold, boxy look inspired by tough off-road classics like the Land Rover Defender or Toyota Land Cruiser, but with a modern, futuristic spin.

Its tall, straight-edged shape, flat roof, and squared-off corners give it a strong, almost army-like feel, often called a “city adventure toy” for younger folks. A cool feature is its pop-up LED headlights, like those from 1980s cars, that tuck away when not needed. It also has full-width LED light bars on the front and back, glowing MG badges, and smooth door handles for a sleek style.

The Cyber X is built on SAIC’s new E3 modular electric platform, made for all sorts of vehicles, from small cars to sporty ones. This “system-level” setup uses cell-to-body (CTB) design, where the battery is part of the car’s frame, making it sturdier, lighter, and more efficient.

Exact details aren’t out yet, but the E3 platform is expected to support semi-solid-state batteries for more power and quicker charging. There’s talk it might get a range of 400–450 km (WLTP), but that’s not confirmed. No info yet on motor setups or power levels.

MG calls the Cyber X a “first toy for urban adventures,” targeting Gen Z and young city dwellers who want style and tech on a budget. It’s set to go up against small electric SUVs like the Hyundai Kona Electric, Peugeot e-2008, or Smart. While the official price isn’t announced, some guess it’ll start under €25,000 (~$26,000 USD) in Europe, making it an affordable EV choice.
