BYD’s Yangwang U8 may not make it stateside anytime soon, but if this electric SUV does show up, just know that it can float in water, sort of. How so? It boasts an electric motor behind each wheel, enabling it to spin the wheels independently as needed to turn and accelerate.
BYD states that the SUV can float in water for up to 30 minutes without causing any major issues. Unfortunately, water still enters the cabin, as you can see the liquid flow out from the U8’s door and tailgate sills. However, in an emergency, passengers are probably only worried about their safety rather than keeping their vehicle in showroom condition.
