Porsche 959 Sport For Sale Auction
This pristine 1988 Porsche 959 Sport, one of just 29 examples built, with just 3,757 miles on the odometer could be yours of the right price. Think of this as Porsche’s answer to Ferrari’s F40 at the time, and had the price tag to go along with it, a very hefty $300,000 ($805,590 in 2025).

Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 2.8L flat-six engine making 510 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The vehicle you see here was originally purchased new by Mr. Werner Funk of La Jolla, California as a “Direktverkauf” or factory direct sale in June of 1989. RM Sotheby’s expects it to fetch between $5.5 million to $6.5 million next week at their Miami auction.

It is believed that the car remained in Switzerland for the vast majority of its life, and documentation on file from Porsche Zentrum Schinznach Bad in Switzerland shows that the car received some mechanical work to the engine and gearbox, as well as repairs to the ABS and limited-slip differential in 2008. Further invoices on file document the careful, no-expenses-spared maintenance regimen lavished on the car through 2015. The car remained in Switzerland until 2015 when it was exported to Italy. Later exported to Sweden, the 959 Sport would return to Italy, remaining there until it was exported to the United States, where it remains today,” said RM Sotheby’s.
