The problem with most drones is that they aren’t designed for underwater use, especially for search and rescue teams. Saver Whale aims to change that. It comes equipped with rugged cameras, sonar technology, several radars, and a radio system for communication. You can deploy this directly from a helicopter precisely where its service is required, while providing a life vest, rope, and first aid kit if necessary.
This drone would come in handy for ship rescues as sometimes, the wreckage could be hazardous for actual human rescue teams to traverse. When the person(s) is located, it can shoot out a net to fix its position and relay messages if need be, while actual emergency personnel heads to that area. There’s no word yet on when there will be a working prototype, but with the technology available now, it should be sooner than later.
