Designer Roman Vlasov’s Concept 439 appears to be a floating house that appears to defy gravity, but it’s all just a clever illusion. Perfect for a super villain, it’s nestled securely to the rocky shoreline, while extending beyond the coast to give its inhabitants a panoramic view of the landscape.
Called Hadrian X, this massive brick-laying system consists of a 98-foot robotic arm mounted on a truck that is guided by motion sensors. How does it know where to lay the bricks? It comes loaded with a digital blueprint, and can auto-correct its position 1,000 times a second.

Your eyes aren’t playing tricks, the Dujiangyan Zhongshuge bookstore, nicknamed “Magic Castle”, located in southwest China’s Sichuan province, appears to be filled to brim with never ending publications. To be more specific, it’s home to over 80,000 volumes in more than 20,000 genres, and looks the way it does using black-tiled floors, paired with mirrored ceilings, resulting in an infinity mirror-like effect.
