The Pivotal BlackFly, a single-seat vertical take-off and landing vehicle, has reached a major milestone: 1,000 piloted flights, a record for any powered-lift eVTOL of its kind. This was announced at the UP.Summit in late September 2025, a big deal for a machine that’s been flying for over 10 years now since its 2011 debut.

Archer Aviation announced that its Midnight eVTOL air taxi has successfully completed a key flight test program as it builds upon four years of flight testing, including two years of full-scale flight testing with Maker.

Electric aircraft are nothing new, but one with a tandem-wing design most certainly is. Introducing the eMagic One eVTOL, which boasts a maximum takeoff weight of 420 kg (925 lb) and can hit 106 mph, thanks to a lift-plus-cruise design, complete with eight lifting propellers distributed across two rails connecting the wings as well as a tractor propeller up front for forward flight.

It’s official, the very first eVTOL drag race has been completed for Airspeeder’s EXA Series. It consisted of two remotely-flown Alauda Aeronautics Mk3 Speeders pit against each other on a 300m drag strip somewhere in South Australia.
