Trolley Tiny Home Conversion
Erik showcases his incredible conversion of a historic 1926 San Francisco trolley car into a unique mobile home. He spent years transforming this antique trolley into a functional living space designed to go anywhere.

How much did it all cost? Well, he first had to shell out $9,000 for the 1926 San Francisco trolley, bought from a scrapyard. Next, $30,000 then went into transforming it into a livable studio apartment. This covered the kitchen (vintage stove, sink, reclaimed wood cabinetry), sleeping area, and living space. Last, but not least, $16,000 went into restoring the wheels, axles, and chassis.

It’s equipped with solar panels, a battery bank, and a rainwater collection system, making it self-sufficient for off-grid living. Heat comes from a small wood stove. Erik’s commitment to reusing materials shines through, whether it be salvaged wood for shelves, a restored 1920s icebox turned cabinet, and even the trolley’s old seats repurposed as decor. He estimates 90% of the build uses secondhand or restored items.
