Can a tuned BMW M3 Competition xDrive beat a Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance EV in a drag race? CarWow wanted to find out and it resulted in this epic showdown of the two titans. First up, we have the 3,924-pound M3, which has been tuned by Tom Wrigley Performance to generate 740 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque from its twin-turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Next up we have the 5,236-pound Lucid Air Dream Performance, which makes 1,110 hp and 1,025 lb-ft of torque from its two electric motors in the rear, connected to a 118-kWh battery pack that is good for driving range of 471 miles on a full charge. Weight does make a huge difference, as the M3 pulls away at the start and shows that power numbers are not the most important factor in a race. As for the rolling starts, you’ll see that the M3 definitely met its match in the Lucid Air.
