The XPeng GX is a full-size SUV that immediately draws attention. Its lines are definitely influenced by the Range Rover, but with enough differences to set it apart on its own. The slanted pillars produce a floating roof look, the depth created by blacked out glass regions, and the full-width rear light bar all work together to distinguish the GX from its British origin, that is, when it isn’t losing its tail in a sea of homogeneity. The retractable door handles that truly tuck away flush for a super clean profile… unless China’s regulations get in the way, which could change before production is completed.
Its enormity is the defining element of this SUV’s presence, and the numbers don’t lie: the GX measures 5,265 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,800 mm tall, with a 3,115 mm wheelbase. It’s not bad for a commanding presence on the road that doesn’t feel like a bloated monster. Six passengers will comfortably fit in the interior over three seats, with each row having its own reclining chairs for a comfortable ride on extended journeys. It also performs admirably in terms of cargo capacity, even when all six passengers are aboard; a common issue in cars of this size is mostly addressed.

When it comes to electricity, you have two options: a battery-electric configuration or an extended range version that combines an electric motor with a small gasoline engine that serves as a backup generator to increase range. This extended-range option guarantees an easy 1,000 km combined range, according to XPeng’s experience with the X9 minivan. In that configuration, traveling only on electric power yields a respectable 320 kilometers before the engine is started. In any case, your system is 800V, which implies 5C fast charging straight out of the box, so you can receive a nice substantial boost in only a few minutes at compatible charging stations. Of course, higher trim levels include all-wheel drive, which has a peak output of up to 430 kW for when you really need to accelerate.
When it comes to handling, they have a lot of sophisticated technology at their disposal, like steer-by-wire: there is no mechanical link between the wheel and the front tires, so you can make ultra accurate adjustments and different ratios on the fly. Then there’s rear-wheel steering, which shortens the turning circle and aids acceleration at high speeds. To tie it all together, the car’s suspension and dynamics are constantly tweaked by AI-powered algorithms that are continuously looking for the smoothest ride and the best handling for the road you’re on.
Inside, you just get an augmented reality head-up display. There is no typical instrument panel; instead, all vital information is projected directly into the driver’s line of sight. Furthermore, the six-seat configuration is designed to provide everyone plenty of room to breathe, making it suitable for family trips or other extended travels. Materials and fit aim for luxury area, and from what I hear, they’ve done an excellent job of it, elevating the GX above the existing G9 in the XPeng lineup.

As an interesting side note, considering the specifications of this item, the beginning price is around 400,000 yuan, or roughly $57,600, with higher-end models likely landing somewhere below the half million mark. All of this places it much behind the equivalent Range Rovers sold in China, though it’s worth noting that it’ll be competing with some local heavyweights such as the Li Auto L9, Aito M9, and some Zeekr variants. Everything else remains unchanged for the time being, but full information will be disclosed soon, just in time for the Beijing Auto Show in late April 2026.
