A surprise duel took place at Brighton Dragstrip on a day that saw the 58k Tesla Model Y Performance face off against the 350k Lamborghini Urus SE. Brooks Weisblat of DragTimes gave us a look at his new 2026 model Y Performance, and it’s a monster.
Powered by dual electric motors that delivered 510 horsepower, Weisblat knew he had something special. Well, so we were all curious to see how this thing compared to the iconic Lamborghini, the Urus SE, with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and an electric motor delivering 811 horsepower to the wheels with a hybrid drivetrain.

Both SUVs arrived at the line in stock form, with no obvious modifications to either vehicle. The Tesla model Y performance weighed 4,466 pounds, while the Urus SE weighed 5,520 pounds, demonstrating the weight differential between the two vehicles and how the Tesla electric motor would turn on a split second before the lights went out, making for a nail-biter.
Three heart-stopping passes later, everything was over. First, the Tesla was able to accelerate far faster than the Urus, with a response time of 0.218 seconds vs 0.403 seconds. Second, by finishing the run in 11.463 seconds at 119.72 mph, it edged out the Lamborghini, which finished in 11.479 seconds at 122.16 mph, but fortunately for the Tesla (or the driver), it was capable of delivering this kind of power.
The second heat was a different story, and in an unexpected turn of events, the Urus SE was able to claim the quickest time of the session at 11.379 seconds at 123.10 mph, just ahead of the electric vehicle’s 11.473 seconds at 119.80 mph by a few thousandths. Though the electric vehicle remained far ahead, the Lamborghini’s faster speeds through the trap demonstrated how much power the V8 engine was producing.
A final run concluded the back-and-forth drama, with Brooks behind the wheel of the Tesla clocking a response time of 0.159 seconds to the Urus driver’s 0.308, and then winning with a 11.460-second finish at 119.71 mph, just a hair behind the Urus driver, who finished in 11.456 seconds at 122.36 mph. In black and white, the Tesla was clearly faster, but the Model Y’s ability to accelerate swiftly kept it close, and it all came down to the driver’s talents.
