Monterey Car Week always delivers and this year is no exception with the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. This is what a Corvette could be, crafted for the virtual tracks of Gran Turismo 7.
Chevrolet didn’t hold back. A mid-mounted 2.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors makes 2,000 horsepower. The V8 alone makes 900 horsepower and revs to 15,000 rpm on renewable e-fuel. Two electric motors drive the front wheels, one integrates into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and sends instant torque to the rear. This setup means the CX.R doesn’t just accelerate, it launches with ferocity and pins you to the seat, virtually or otherwise. All-wheel drive and torque vectoring keeps that power in check so every corner is a precision strike.

Aerodynamics define the CX.R’s presence. Chevrolet’s designers worked with the GM Motorsports Aero Group to sculpt a body that’s both functional and beautiful. A massive front splitter and aggressive side skirts direct air with precision, a fixed rear wing generates downforce and glues the car to the track. Lowered ride height and a ventilated engine cover enhance cooling and stability so the CX.R stays planted at high speed. Active aero elements like a front diffuser adjust on the fly to balance grip and speed. Inspired by the McMurtry Spéirling the car has a Vacuum Fan System – built-in fans suck air through open-channel bodywork to create massive downforce and fine tune airflow over the rear diffuser in real time.

Inside the CX.R it’s all about performance not luxury. A lightweight carbon fiber dashboard keeps weight to a minimum, suede-wrapped seats with aggressive bolsters cradle the driver through high corners. Those seats, in Corvette Racing’s iconic yellow and black, have extra shoulder and headrest support for the intense forces this car can generate. A redesigned steering wheel packed with controls and a central display keeps the driver focused on the track. Every surface feels purposeful, built for one thing: winning races.

Chevrolet and Polyphony Digital bring the CX.R to Gran Turismo 7 later this month. The car’s black and yellow livery is a nod to Corvette’s 25 years of racing heritage, the championship winning GT cars that have defined the brand’s track DNA. Unlike the street focused Corvette CX the CX.R is all about competition, stripped down to the bare minimum with speed over comfort the priority.
