Corvette ZR1X vs Lamborghini Revuelto Drag Racing
A stock Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X just proved hybrid power and precise launch control can turn a supercar contest into a complete mismatch. Lined up against a tuned Lamborghini Revuelto at Apex Motor Club in Arizona, the American car pulled away so decisively that the gap looked wide enough to park a bus in.

The Corvette is powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine combined with a front axle electric motor, for a total output of 1,250 horsepower. Chevrolet claims it can go from 0 to 60 mph in 1.68 seconds and complete the quarter mile in 8.675 seconds on a prepped surface. The greatest part? We’re talking about a completely stock vehicle. In comparison, the Lamborghini arrived with a 6.5-liter V12 and three electric motors, for a factory total of 1,001 horsepower. Then Gintani added an exhaust system and engine tune to increase output to a stunning 1,100 horsepower. The price disparity, however, tells it all: the Corvette starts at roughly $210,000, while the Lamborghini costs a cool $750,000.

On a sweltering day in the desert, Brooks Weisblat of DragTimes piloted the Revuelto, while Parker Nirenstein of Vehicle Virgins drove the Corvette. The two vehicles completed three standing-start quarter-mile laps, as well as some rolling starts down a 3,500-foot straight. In the first standing race, both vehicles departed the line cleanly, but the Corvette rapidly surged ahead and simply kept running. The same trend continued in the subsequent stands; even when the Lamborghini gained a head start in one pass, the Corvette was closing in faster than you could say Jack Robinson and comfortably crossed the finish line first.

The rolling starts yielded the same outcome, with the Corvette driving away from the Lamborghini as if it were nothing at all. The onboard footage and others watching from the sidelines both described the gap between them as vast and growing by the second. The launch was essentially all that mattered, as the Corvette’s quick electric torque sent to the front wheels provided great grip and acceleration right away. The adjustable launch control allowed the driver to tune the slip and rpm to the surface, whereas the Lamborghini had its own hybrid system and launch control but couldn’t compete with the Corvette’s traction or consistency off the line.

It’s worth mentioning that in previous races, a non-hybrid Corvette ZR1 and the Revuelto were far closer, with heat and traction determining the outcome. But the ZR1X’s hybrid all-wheel-drive layout eliminated all that uncertainty, turning what could have been a close competition into a clear victory even in the brutal Arizona heat. The Corvette, by the way, remained consistent across all of its runs, whereas the Lamborghini had a couple of minor issues, including disabled shift lights that made it difficult for the driver to get any feedback. In the end, those minor subtleties didn’t matter because the raw acceleration differential was so large.
