Facebook started in Mark Zuckerberg’s dormitory at Harvard University in 2004, and previously, only college students could register for the social media network. Well, the company appears to be going back to its roots with a new “Campus” feature, a new space exclusive for college students. Some of the leaked screenshots from Jane Wong include a sign-up page inviting users to add their year of their graduation, subjects of their degree as well as their dormitory.
These “Campus” spaces will have their own Groups, Events, Pages, and other features that can only be accessed with .edu credentials. Unfortunately, this is currently an experimental feature, so it may not make its way to the public should there be any major hurdles.
We’re always working to improve the Facebook experience for students, but have nothing to announce at this time,” said a Facebook representative.
