The Munro MK1 electric 4×4 off-road SUV is the first from Scotland-based startup Munro Vehicles, and it gives off Land Rover vibes without the high price tag. Priced from $61,000 USD, buyers can choose from either 220kW (295hp) or 280kW (375hp) variants powered by an single axial flux motor, along with either a 61 kWh or 82 kWh (190-mile range) battery pack.
When connected to a DC fast-charger, the Munro MK1 can be powered up in just 36-minutes. Since the MK1 is built to go off-road, the 35-module NMC battery packs are safely encapsulated in heavy-duty aluminum boxes beneath the vehicle, guaranteed to hold at least 80% of original energy capacity for eight years/100,000 miles. Production is set to kick off in 2023 at the company’s East Killbride factory, with large scale manufacturing beginning in 2024.
