New images for this project are constantly being released, and each one highlights what makes it unique. Pininfarina’s designers started with the 1990s NSX and substantially altered every important dimension to give it a fresh new look. The end result is a car that is longer in the wheelbase, wider over the tires, and shorter in the back, with larger wheels. This mix of improvements gives it a planted-on-the-road appearance that draws your attention from all angles.

According to lead designer Dimitri Vicedomini, the proportions were the driving force throughout the project. Once they decided on those, the rest fell into place. The fenders extend out and the rear shoulders broaden in a way that recalls the iconic Pininfarina styling from the past. The pop-up headlights and integrated rear spoiler remain, but have been modified to better complement the new lines. Carbon fiber panels cover the whole skin and conceal all mechanicals beneath, with no apparent connections to detract from the appearance.

Meanwhile, JAS Motorsport engineers have been overhauling the original naturally aspirated V6 engine from the early NSX production run to produce greater power, torque, and a snappier throttle response, all without the use of forced induction or electric motors. And they kept it simple with a six-speed manual and no paddles on this one. This promises a great direct contact between your foot, hand, and the road, which many current sports vehicles have abandoned in favor of more sophisticated transmissions.

The interior retains the original layout that made the first-generation NSX famous for providing the driver with an excellent perspective and positioning controls in the optimal location. The materials inside have been upgraded with some excellent bespoke switches and finishes to give it a more premium feel. The gauges are entirely analog, at least that is the intention; we haven’t seen the final inside photos yet. You can have any of these in LHD or RHD, depending on your preference.

The small batch construction takes place at the JAS workshop in Arluno, near Milan. If you want to add some unique personal touches, visit the Pininfarina studios in Turin. The actual public premiere occurs later in the year, when we’ll learn the pricing and how many will be produced, allowing us to have a better idea of what to expect from the cars when they reach the road.
