Smart #2 Reveal Paris Motor Show
Thirty years after the original smart two-seater first appeared in Paris, the fully electric Smart #2 has made its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show. This new version keeps the familiar short, square shape with wheels pushed to the corners, measuring just 2,746 mm long in standard form. That length, paired with a 6.95-meter curb-to-curb turning circle, lets it slip into tight parking spots and weave through crowded urban roads with little effort.

The car is constructed on an Electric Compact Architecture platform that was specifically designed for it. A rear-mounted 60kW electric motor delivers a strong 130 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. The battery has been installed low in the floor, a 35.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack that is projected to provide a combined WLTP range of 290 kilometers. As long as the conditions are favorable, rapid DC charging at up to 65 kW may recharge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes. Most trim options let you to charge to 11kW AC, while the entry-level Pure trim only includes a 7.4 kW single-phase charger. Vehicle-to-load capability is also available as an option, allowing you to power external equipment via a type F plug where local regulations permit.

  • 𝟏𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎-𝐂𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐅𝐏 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲: Powered by 314Ah LFP cells, S2000 has a 15-year lifespan, equivalent to 10,000 charge cycles.

Safety has been given the same amount of thought. The Tridion Cell Evo framework wraps around the cabin without adding any bulk to the outside, consistent with the brand’s long-standing emphasis on keeping passengers safe in small cars. The standard package includes clever Pilot Assist and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and highway assist capabilities. Blind-spot detection, rear collision avoidance, and rear cross-traffic alert are all included, although only on European models.

Inside, things become more fascinating. The seating arrangement is continuous bench-style, and the cockpit is S-shaped, making the most of the limited space available. Two adults can be seated side by side, with cupholders, armrests, and storage. The primary 10.1-inch screen pairs with an 8.8-inch driver display to provide 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. An eight-year connectivity bundle ensures that the services will continue to work for a long period. On the dashboard, there’s a handy little shelf for holding small electronics. As before, the split tailgate is a clever piece of kit, with the upper glass half swinging open on its own in tight situations and the lower section folding down into a loading platform or a 120kg seat.

There are three major trim levels offered for the European market. Pure provides the fundamentals, including LED lighting, automatic high beams, V2L compatibility, and the entire driver aid suite. Pure+ adds 11kW of AC charging and a heated driver’s seat. Premium adds a glass roof, heated man-made leather seats for both occupants, a seven-speaker Sennheiser sound system, and a few two-tone body color possibilities.

The Couture Edition is a special trim that includes Atelier White Matte paint, a Platinum Gold roof, 16-inch Lyra wheels with gold details, ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, navigation, and a numbered interior badge. This resulted in a modest increase in length to 2,764 mm. UK pricing is projected to start below £20,000, with pre-orders scheduled for spring 2027. Although deliveries are still a ways off, the car must go through the EU homologation process before we can receive all of the final figures and equipment lists.
