Unlike the smaller LEGO Star Wars X-Wing sets you see in stores, this one was built using 2.5-million pieces by a 10-person team, led by LEGO Certified Professional Georg Schmitt, atop Jungfraujoch, a saddle connecting the two peaks, Jungfrau and Mönch, in Switzerland. This massive model spans an impressive 10 x 10 meters, and the entire thing took over 1,500 hours of work to complete.
Why was it built here? Jedi Master Yoda told Luke Skywalker “Do or do not – there is no try” in ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’ before using the Force to lift an X-Wing out of the swamp, thus making the impossible, possible. LEGO decided to take this phrase to heart and built this giant X-Wing for ‘The Force Friday’ on October 4th, 2019. It’s a true-to-original LEGO reproduction of the unmistakable X-Wing starfighter from the Skywalker saga, making the motto ‘The Force is in your hands’ a reality. It’s currently the highest point on which a LEGO Star Wars X-Wing has ever landed.
