You may not have known the 2024 BYD Yangwang U9 electric supercar even existed, but after watching this spy video shot at Nurburgring, it will definitely make you look twice. Power comes from a quad electric motor setup connected to 80-kWh BYD “Blade” lithium iron phosphate battery that helps it generate 1,287 hp.

Most EV fans are familiar with the new Tesla Model 3 refresh, but just how does it stack up against the BYD Seal? Mat Watson of Carwow wanted to find out, so he pit both vehicles against each other in an EV drag racing showdown and review.

BYD may not be a household name in North America, but they are the largest EV maker in mainland China. The YangWang U8 electric SUV aims to take on the Tesla Model X Plaid, Mercedes-Benz EQG as well as the Land Rover Defender EV, and it’s definitely no slouch. Power comes from four electric motors in each wheel that generate over 1,100-horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque combined, enabling it to hit 62 mph in 3-seconds flat.
