Cybertruck GAC Pickup 01 Production

Back at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, the GAC Pickup 01 rolled onto the stage like a futuristic slab of sci-fi steel, and now it’s no longer just a concept—it’s headed for production in 2027. This isn’t another China-only special either; GAC’s got big plans to send this beast global, eyeing markets like Australia, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Mexico, and beyond where the brand’s already digging in its heels.

Under the hood? Well, GAC’s playing coy for now, keeping powertrain details locked tighter than a vault. Will it be a full-on EV, a hybrid, or a mix of both? Nobody’s saying. With its Tesla Cybertruck-inspired vibe and the world’s electrification obsession, we’d bet on electrons—either pure electric or a plug-in hybrid—but horsepower, battery size, and range are still anyone’s guess. Whatever it is, it better pack a punch to stand out in the crowded pickup ring.

The Pickup 01’s design screams “look at me” with a chiseled, angular body that could’ve been sketched in a Blade Runner storyboard. Think full-width LED light bar, “floating” headlights that seem to hover, a beefy front bumper flashing red recovery hooks, and wheel arches stuffed with massive rollers. It’s got digital side mirrors for that extra tech flex and a stance that says it’s ready to chew up trails or cruise city streets. Inside, it’s all high-tech minimalism, anchored by a funky octagonal steering wheel that’s more Starship Enterprise than F-150. Renderings are a bit fuzzy, so we’re still craving a closer look at the cabin’s finer points.

Pricing? GAC’s keeping that card close too. With the Cybertruck kicking off at $72,235 for the rear-drive model and climbing to $102,235 for the tri-motor Cyberbeast in the U.S., the Pickup 01’s gotta find its sweet spot. GAC’s known for undercutting the competition, so we’re expecting a number that’ll make buyers in Melbourne or Mexico City pause and think—maybe well below Tesla’s sticker to shake up the global market. But until the spec sheet drops, it’s all bench racing for now.
