Ferrari Hypersail Yacht
Ferrari’s name is synonymous with screaming engines and asphalt-conquering supercars, but now they’re diving into something entirely new—a 100-foot sailing yacht called the Hypersail that skims across the ocean like it’s defying gravity.

Designed with French naval architect Guillaume Verdier and led by ocean-racing legend Giovanni Soldini, the Hypersail is a full-foiling monohull that barely touches the water. Three clever contact points—a foil on a tilting keel, another on the rudder, and swappable side foils—lift the hull up, letting it glide with next to no drag. It’s a first for a yacht this size, and you can feel Ferrari’s Formula 1 and hypercar DNA in every sleek line. “This is us pushing past what we thought was possible,” Ferrari Chairman John Elkann said, his words carrying the thrill of chasing a new frontier.

Forget gas-guzzling engines or backup generators—this yacht runs purely on solar, wind, and kinetic energy, making it the first 100-footer to go fully self-sufficient. “We’re mixing different worlds and high-tech ideas to build something truly groundbreaking,” Soldini said, and you can sense his excitement for a yacht that’s as sustainable as it is swift.

Ferrari’s racing know-how shines in the Hypersail’s aerodynamics. Borrowing tricks from their Le Mans-winning 499P hypercar, the yacht’s flight control systems keep it steady, tweaking pitch and energy flow to handle the ocean’s wild moods. “It’s a new way to sail, from how it’s built to how it flies,” Soldini said, hinting at a vessel that feels alive on the waves.

The Hypersail is being crafted in Italy, with a team of 20 Ferrari techs and up to 90 specialists working to perfect it before sea trials in 2026. It’s not just a yacht—it’s a testing ground, with lessons that’ll likely shape Ferrari’s electric cars down the line. “This lets us play in new spaces,” Elkann said, his eyes clearly on the future.

Built for grueling ocean races, the Hypersail is ready to take on the toughest conditions with a crew of eight to 12, no pit stops needed. Its three-point flight system, rooted in Ferrari’s endurance racing ethos, promises speed and stability no matter the storm. While Soldini’s keeping quiet about specific races, his track record hints at big plans for record-breaking runs. “First, we finish the boat and get it on the water,” he said, his focus sharp but his enthusiasm infectious.
