Fifteen years after the Gallardo LP 550-2 Tricolore last carried the name, Lamborghini brought it back during Monterey Car Week. Unveiled on the brand’s stage at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, the Temerario Tricolore is a single, fully bespoke car created by Centro Stile working with the Ad Personam team. It sits alongside the world premiere of the Revuelto SV yet steals attention through its own quiet declaration of Italian identity.
The original 2011 Gallardo was a special edition commemorating 150 years of Italian unification, with a classy stripe running over its body in national colors, a subtle homage to the country’s history. This car had a 5.2-litre V10 engine that produced 542 horsepower and delivered it only to the back wheels. Now, a new version maintains the original concept while putting it on a far more capable platform. The Temerario’s hood features a green, white, and red pattern that is offset like its predecessor, while the remainder of the body is given a much bolder treatment.

Bianco Monocerus protects the upper parts of the body, doors, and fenders, while Blu Marinus Shiny covers the lower sections. Nero Noctis looks great on the roof, external mirrors, wheels and engine cover, and even the back detailing, as it produces a magnificent contrast that really highlights the car’s proportions. Red Rosso brake calipers lend a touch of sporty flair to the dark alloys, resulting in a horizontal divide that makes the Temerario appear even more rooted and purposeful than usual.
Inside, the cabin maintains the same regimented color scheme. The main event is Nero Ade leather, with contrast stitching in Rosso Alala that echoes the red brake calipers found outside. Just in case you hadn’t guessed, the car appears in silhouette on the rear interior trim, which is a great touch. Tricolore writing is also embroidered on the door panels; each stitch, surface, and design was deliberately picked to function together as one large composition rather than a collection of distinct possibilities.
Under the hood, the car is still a Temerario. It now has a fresh new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine capable of reaching 10,000 rpm, a first for a production super sports car engine. Three electric motors round out the hybrid system, resulting in 920 CV (or 907 horsepower) and 538 pound-feet of torque. Power is transmitted to the road via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, and it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.7 seconds. Top speed? A whisker above 213 mph. To power those electric motors, a modest 3.8 kWh battery pack is installed, but this is still a high-revving V8 at heart.
Lamborghini sees this vehicle as a celebration of Italian greatness as well as a demonstration of the Ad Personam programme’s capabilities. That program is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and they had previously shown off some really unique, one-off Temerario configurations at Goodwood. The Tricolore simply continues this trend, demonstrating that personalization can influence not just the color, materials, and trim of a vehicle, but also its overall visual character. Price? We don’t know. It’s a one-of-a-kind display that exists to demonstrate what is possible if you have the money and a strong desire to own something truly one-of-a-kind – and unique.
