Liberty Walk tuned Civics frequently get people talking, whether they love ’em or loathe ’em, but their latest kit for the Type R has managed to make a case for itself, resting securely in the center ground where everything tends to get muddled. The front end receives a whole new bumper with a revised lower grille portion, some fancy aerodynamic canards that stick out the front, and a decent-looking splitter. It’s all about the look, and Liberty Walk delivers big.
On top of that, you’ll find a fresh new hood with a functioning air vent to direct hot air away from the engine during spirited driving. The flanks are also updated, with expanded skirts that make the car appear lower and longer while maintaining usability. If you choose the widebody option, you get flared wheel arches that bump forward the rear hatch by a hair (10mm), but it’s hard to detect from the outside, and there are some trimmings on the front quarter panels to let a little more air in.

Liberty Walk manufactured all of these parts out of plain old fiberglass for the lower models, while adding some carbon fiber for weight loss in the more expensive packages, as you’d expect.
The standard package in fiberglass costs roughly $8,470, while the carbon fiber variant costs $13,860. A widebody kit costs $11,000 in fiberglass or $16,830 in carbon fiber. Individual parts and pieces are available for anyone who wants to mix and match; for example, the rear wing alone costs $1,430 if you keep it stock or $1,930 if you go with the carbon fiber version. In case you’re wondering, a beautiful set of black wheels costs $3,784.
So in the United States, you can now get your hands on all of this, putting it ahead of a few other premium kits on the market that may not be available on this side of the pond. Overall, the package looks unlike anything offered here and isn’t too expensive (compared to other Liberty Walk kits), as it only helps the Type R look a little more race-like, rather than completely converting it into something new.
