Liberty Walk has officially completed the first full car in its Final Edition series for the Nissan GT-R, a showpiece that captures everything enthusiasts loved about the model right up until production halted last August. Owariasahi, a Japanese tuner, gave the R35 generation a widebody treatment that reimagined all of the aspects that made the GT-R so popular.

Those who have followed the GT-R since its debut in 2007 will recognize the classic shape, but each panel has been given a fresh lease on life. The wide fender flares that bolt straight onto the body shift the stance to one side, filling the wheel wells fully. Side skirts run down the bottom sides and elegantly hook up to a redesigned front bumper, which now features a prominent splitter and a couple canards to give it some real bite. Air is pulled in through massive intakes and vents across the hood, which Liberty Walk customized specifically for this project, giving the car a true growl. Around the back, a brand-new diffuser rests neatly under the bumper, and a version three wing pokes out of the trunk lid to keep things stable without destroying the elegant lines. Four tidy exhaust tips protrude from the back, and the entire car is painted gloss black from nose to tail. Black wheels and matching trim complete the design, giving it a clean, monotone finish with no decals to break it up.
- BUILD AN ICONIC CAR – Adults can relive their favorite movie moments with the LEGO Technic 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), a detailed replica of the legendary vehicle from the hit movies
- CAR MODEL KIT FOR ADULTS – Fans of model car kits and building blocks will enjoy discovering details as they build, like functioning steering, a 6-cylinder engine, front and rear suspension, opening doors, an adjustable wing, and 3 signature NOS bottles
- GROUNDBREAKING DRIFT FUNCTION – The first-ever LEGO Technic drift mechanism raises the car so builders can recreate the movie's most impressive street racing maneuvers

Every component of the bodykit is sourced directly from Liberty Walk’s final aero package for the R35, with owners able to purchase the entire kit in fiberglass reinforced plastic for a reasonable $31,350, or upgrade specific sections such as the hood and trunk to dry carbon fibre for $41,800. Importantly, the kit is compatible with all R35 models from 2009 forward, and it comes unpainted with certificates of authenticity to prove it’s genuine. Liberty Walk recommends pairing it with larger diameter wheels and a computerized air-ride suspension system to ensure the automobile sits perfectly level and rides close to the road without bottoming out.

The twin turbocharged 3.8 liter V6 beneath the hood, or under the bonnet cover in this case, remains mostly unchanged from when it was first assembled by Nissan. It’ll still bring the same power and torque to the driver’s hands, and the six-speed dual-clutch transmission will continue to shift with the precision that made the GT-R legendary. Liberty Walk has instead focused all of its attention on the bodykit and stance rather than the engine and transmission, which they believe maintains factory reliability while giving the car a whole new look.

The finished black example, which was showed off at the Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this year, is now in the hands of a satisfied new owner, and it rides on wide black alloys and uses the lowered suspension arrangement that Liberty Walk recommends. If you want to start your own build, you can order the kit directly from Liberty Walk or through one of their authorized dealers – but keep in mind that it will take anything from a week to four weeks to arrive from Japan, depending on how you get it shipped. Once the parts arrive, it will take you between 14 and 16 weeks to put everything together.
