There are foldable smartphones, laptops, and in the near future, possibly tablets as well. Guandong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications filed a patent earlier this year with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) for a ‘Mobile terminal,’ and it was approved on October 31, 2019. The sketches appear to show a tablet-like device with a large flexible display and a smartphone dock of sorts.

This tablet basically consists of the flexible screen and a hinge, thus making it fully foldable, or perfect for storage. Once you fold it, the display is on the exterior, which could possibly be used as a laptop display too via USB-C. Or, just bend it in half and use it as a display for watching videos, etc. The smartphone dock basically connects your handset using USB-C to the larger display, so its display is mirrored on the larger tablet. When can you expect to see a prototype of this device? There’s no word yet, but Mobile World Congress 2020 in Barcelona during February would be your best bet.
