PAL-V has received full certification basis with EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency), making it officially the world’s first road-legal flying car. This three-wheeled vehicle is powered by a 100-horsepower engine capable of hitting 62 mph in less than nine seconds, while topping out at 100 mph, in road mode.
When flight mode is activated, a dedicated 200-hp motor fires up and a large top rotor opens up. However, you will need at least 1,000-feet of runway for take off. In the air, it can achieve a maximum speed of 112 mph at altitudes of up to 11,480-feet. For landing, you’ll need at least 100-feet. On the bright side, its 26.4-gallon fuel tank is good for up to 4.3-hours of flight time, or a range of approximately 310-miles.

Getting a flying car to the market is hard. It takes at least 10 years. Although we are experienced entrepreneurs, we learned that in aviation everything is exponentially stricter. Next to the aircraft, all aspects of the organization, including suppliers and maintenance parties must be certified,” said Robert Dingemanse, PAL-V’s CEO.
