Renault Rafale Hypnotic Reimagines a Flagship as a Numbered Dark Statement of Power and Quiet Luxury

Renault has drawn a firm line at the top of its Rafale range with the Hypnotic, a limited run of just 1,500 numbered cars built on the already potent Atelier Alpine hyper hybrid. Orders open across 14 European countries on October 1, 2026, with the first examples due in customer hands before the year ends. In France the price sits at €63,550, or €560 a month on a long-term lease, making this the most expensive SUV Renault has ever sold.

Satin finish Forest Black paint covers the entire body, a very rare shade reserved only for these 1,500 examples. However, the grille, roof trim, boot spoiler, and Atelier Alpine insignia are gloss black, giving this Rafale coupe-SUV a truly dark and coherent appearance that is more understated than spectacular in compared to any of its predecessors. The 21-inch alloy wheels have the same slick finish, giving the entire car a more streamlined appearance.




Inside, titanium black Alcantara meets some quite intriguing textured fabric on the seats, which have been stitched in the famous blue, white, and red French tricolor colors. Each seatback features a lighted Alpine ‘A’, and gloss black inserts run through the door panels, which have the same exquisite tri-colour stitching as the seats. The upper dashboard is likewise covered in Alcantara, the carpet is rich black, and each car comes with a small number plate indicating how many of this limited edition will be produced, making everything feel very personal and bespoke.



The standard kit on the Hypnotic eliminates almost all of the optional items that would normally be available on a lower-end Rafale. As standard, you receive the Solarbay glass roof, head-up display, heated windshield, 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera, hands-free parking, matrix LED headlights, heated / massaging driver’s seat, and a 32-amp charging cable. In actuality, the four primary elements alone would cost €3,600 for the Atelier Alpine, while the Hypnotic only adds €3,300 to the price. So you get the super-exclusive paint job, the opulent interior, plus the limited production run for free.


Of course, behind it all is the same powerful and efficient hyper hybrid E-Tech 4×4 powertrain that powers the rest of the line. We’re talking about a 1.2L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with three electric motors to deliver a total of 300 horsepower. The 22 Kwh battery provides 105 km of pure electric driving on the WLTP cycle, and with permanent 4 wheel drive and a variety of smart suspension and four wheel steer technologies, power, grip, and calmness come as standard.


The Hypnotic will be on display at Renault’s booth in Hall 6 during the Paris Motor Show from October 12 to 18, 2026. And if you want one of these beauties, be warned: there will be a limited supply, with each country receiving less than 110 automobiles on average. Once they’re gone, these 1,500 special edition Hypnotics will be the only ones available, with the ordinary Atelier Alpine being the next level down, which must appear a little underwhelming in contrast.
