First unveiled back in 2017, SeaBubbles’ foiling electric water taxi officially started commercial service in France this week. The company partnered with the Grand Annecy to operate the water taxis on Lake Annecy in the south east of France for the next few months.
This battery-electric water taxi can safely transport up to four passengers in its closed or open air cabin. When the watercraft hits 8 mph, it rises up out of the water on hydrofoils and can reach a top speed of 15 mph as it glides across the water. Multiple sensors capture data for the onboard computer, which it uses to automatically adjust pitch, roll and yaw for the smoothest ride possible.

We are proud of the trust placed in us by the Grand Annecy urban community to set up the pilot line. With this new eco-friendly, zero-carbon shuttle service, we intend to offer users of the line and residents of the conurbation not only a different relationship with the privileged natural setting of Lake Annecy, but also future options for easing traffic congestion on the shores of the lake,” said Virginie Seurat, SeaBubbles CEO.
