The problem with electric vehicles is that they take much longer to power up when compared to their petrol counterparts, but these two auto enthusiasts may have found an unconventional solution. Put simply, they installed a solar panel system on a Ford F-150 Lightning.
These two cousins from Hawaii built a solar rack containing seven 330-watt solar panels, connected them to a portable power station, for their truck. This means that the power station is being used to charge the pickup truck via a Level 2 plug, resulting in an energy loss of around 35% due to the DC/AC conversion, which still isn’t bad when all things are considered. For now, this is only able to generate around 27-miles of additional range after 8-hours.
