The 2023 Civic Type R is officially launching in the US this fall, complete with a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinger engine that now makes 315 hp @ 6,500 rpm and 310 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,600 – 4,000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It uses a standard helical-type limited-slip differential to ensure that the engine’s power is efficiently put on the pavement.
This model is based on the 11th-generation Honda civic Hatchback, which means that its wheelbase has been extended 1.4-inches to 107.7-inches for a smoother ride and greater stability. Plus, its front and rear tracks have also been widened (+1.0 inches in the front and +0.75 inches in the rear), which when combined with the re-tuned dual-axis strut front as well as multilink rear suspension, greatly improve straight-line stability. Available in Championship White (Type R exclusive), Rallye Red, Boost Blue, Crystal Black Pearl and Sonic Grey Pearl. with pricing becoming available closer to the launch date.
