Polaris just handed the high-performance side-by-side world a new leader. The 2027 RZR Pro R Boost arrives with a turbocharged 2.0-liter ProStar Fury engine that produces 275 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 223 pound-feet of torque at 6,000 rpm. That output makes it the strongest factory side-by-side available, clearing the previous marks set by the Kawasaki Teryx H2 and Can-Am Maverick R.
Nearly all of that torque comes in straight away, with 215 pound-feet available at 4000 rpm, and the curve remains rock solid across a large range, allowing the engine to pull in hard without all that high-rpm screaming. A large Garrett turbo feeds the engine, which is cooled by a liquid-to-air intercooler, and the entire system has been tuned to maintain maximum power in temperatures as high as 115 degrees Fahrenheit and at elevations of up to 10,000 feet.

Polaris had to pull out and overhaul nearly every inch of the drivetrain in order to convert that power into something usable. The CVT received a significant improvement, including a high-capacity clutch pack with a larger driven clutch, 48 curved cooling fins, a stronger and wider belt, and much improved ventilation. They also included a clutch cooler to keep the engine running even after hours of high-load runs. They also beefed up the half-shafts, strengthened the front differential and secured it solidly to the chassis, and removed the existing power/torque limits, allowing more of the engine’s output to be transferred directly to the ground.
Cooling also received a lot of attention, as they installed a dual-radiator setup with a high-temperature radiator behind the seats that is fed by a roof scoop that keeps air moving even when you have a windshield or a load of extras on there. Then they built a separate low-temperature radiator up front to keep the turbo and transmission from overheating, as well as some fresh-air intakes and those delicious 360-degree vents that keep the cockpit nice and cool on long desert days.

Chassis control perfectly matches the power, as the ultimate models get desert tuned DYNAMIX DV electronic suspension with FOX 3.0 Live Valve X2 interior bypass shock, and the new software even adds G-out protection and better rear bump control so the thing stays as smooth as rain even when the terrain gets crazy. The Ultra versions upgrade with DYNAMIX DVS, which has active sway bar links. These devices can change up to 200 times per second, giving you much more control over body roll and grip, which means less possibility of washing out or stalling on challenging terrain.

Both trim levels have 32-inch tires. The Ultra gets BFGoodrich tires, a carbon fiber hood, seat bezels, and an MPI GT wheel. The thing is still all about desert and high-speed dune work, with 74 inches of width, 16 inches of clearance, and a long travel suspension. A 2-seater Ultimate will weigh around 2531 pounds, which is around 200 pounds more than the Pro R, but the additional power improves the power-to-weight ratio significantly.

The 10.4-inch Ride Command touchscreen is Polaris’ largest screen ever installed in a side-by-side vehicle. It supports split-screen views as well as other capabilities like as Group Ride and 3D mapping, and Apple CarPlay will be enabled when a software update is released later. The Ultimate versions include standard Rockford Fosgate Stage 4 audio. The Ultimate’s Pro Climate seats have both heat and venting to keep you comfortable on extended rides, six-point harnesses ensure everyone’s safety, and a digital rear view camera is built right into the system. Fuel capacity is approximately 14.7 gallons for two-seat vehicles and 17.4 gallons for four-seaters.

Prices begin at $49,999 for the two-seat Ultimate. Four-seat Ultimate models cost $53,999. If you choose the Ultra trim, you’ll pay an additional $3,000, so the two-seater Ultra starts at $52,999 and the four-seater Ultra costs $56,999. Be prepared for an additional $1,995 destination charge, and if you’re wondering when you can get your hands on one, these babies will hit dealers in November 2026, just as the dune season begins.
