China-based eVTOL developer EHang has their latest project, an intelligent firefighting variant of its 216 autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV), called the 216F. This model was designed specially for high-rise buildings, as it’s capable of carrying up to 150 liters of foam and six fire extinguisher bombs in a single trip.
To quickly identify the location of a fire, the 216F uses a visible light zoom camera before it hovers in position and uses a laser aiming device to successively deliver a window breaker, fire extinguisher bombs, and to spray firefighting foam. The goal is to deploy these in urban fire stations to assist in firefighting within a 5km radius, thus enabling multiple units to be deployed to a single fire using the company’s autopilot and remote centralized management technologies.
