Balenciaga has spent years turning ordinary objects into expensive statements that leave most people confused. Potato chip bags, plastic grocery carriers, and even rough burlap have all carried the label, so a full-size vehicle shaped like a compact tank sits comfortably in the same collection.
Designer Nicolas Fred created this Futuristic Mobility Concept as a high-fashion mode of transportation for four of the industry’s most prominent figures, a unique way to convey them through the streets to a high-profile event entry. Underneath the machine are continuous tracks, either clattering steel for noisy navigation or smoother rubber for quieter navigation. You might have a diesel engine in the back, or the clean dashboard may indicate that an electric configuration is just as plausible.

Outside, the overall design is very blocky, with rounded edges and a continuous armored shell that appears to be capable of handling more than simply city traffic. The large windscreen extends across the front and splits in the middle for enhanced all-around visibility. You can even open up more glass panels so that the rear passengers may see the scenery as well.
The sliding doors close flush with the sides, so everything stays perfectly smooth. There are no typical side or rear view mirrors, only clusters of tiny cameras and sensors plastered all over the side and roof. A little cylinder protrudes from the top, which could be an exhaust pipe or some type of sensor. The headlights are arranged in clean small squares at the front, which blend in seamlessly with the rest of the design.
Inside the interior, the seats begin as simple metal frames, but in the front, the driver and at least one passenger sit on actual cloth bags, woven parts that appear just like the items sold in the brand’s own accessory line. In the back, however, the seats are low pods, since the same woven fabric forms the floor and then continues on without a break into the backrests. You’re left with the option of tucking your feet beside you or stretching them out in front like you’re riding in an oversized pram. The entire interior is contained within that steel shell.
