The Ferrari F40 will forever retain a special position among the greatest supercars to have ever rolled off a production line. When it was released in 1987, it was the company’s 40th birthday present, and what a gift it was, with a twin-turbo V8 engine pumping out an astounding 478 horsepower that had drivers feeling every single bump and the full force of every mechanical noise in that austere cabin. Now, a new digital concept has taken the F40’s gorgeous design and given it a substantial shake-up with some really striking alterations.
Fully Leaded, a group of designers who specialize in eye-catching auto renderings, created this widebody variant. The most noticeable alterations have been to the front end design, with pop-up headlights being replaced by some incredibly tiny LED units that give it a considerably more modern, streamlined appearance.

A new bumper has also been added, complete with a deep splitter and some very massive air intakes, which assist to funnel even more air into the radiator, at least in this digital design. The bonnet gets a large central scoop that dwarfs the original air duct, allowing cool air to flow directly into the engine compartment while giving the car a really unique look.

The sides appear to have been significantly opened up in these models, and the flared wheel arches lend to the F40’s powerful, hefty appearance. The car appears to be sitting lower and more planted on the road due to the bigger wheel wells, which get increasingly filled as you drive. The original NACA side vents have been removed in favor of a large, oversized intake, which, while not subtle, adds a piece to the overall performance.

The rear end is also quite radical, with the original triple exhaust pipes swapped out for a much cleaner, more streamlined design. The taillights aren’t much to write home about, too, with a short strip of LEDs that give the F40 a very 21st century feel while robbing it of some of its vintage 80s appeal. At the same time, a large diffuser has been installed, along with a curving wing that extends over the engine cover to provide even more downforce. It all just comes together to offer that classic rear end a very motorsport-inspired appearance.

There have been no changes to the engine or chassis; this concept is primarily about the visual makeover, with the original 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and super-lightweight construction philosophy retained. The cabin appears to have remained unchanged, thus it is still the tiny cockpit that all F40 owners are familiar with.
