Genesis GV90 Neolun Reveal
Genesis finally stepped into the full-size luxury SUV arena on Wednesday evening in San Francisco. The GV90 and its more exclusive Neolun sibling mark the brand’s largest and most ambitious production model yet, translating the 2024 Neolun concept into a real vehicle built for presence, space, and quiet capability.

Two versions have essentially the same overall layout. The regular GV90 has the normal front-hinged doors and seats up to seven persons. The GV90 Neolun, on the other hand, includes the elegant Neolun Arch Gate, which is essentially a set of rear-hinged coach doors with no A- or B-pillars in between. Those doors swing open after moving outwards first, resulting in a tremendously wide entrance that you’d expect to see on something much more luxurious than an SUV. Safety measures help maintain the body firm, even when there is a lot of door swing activity.

LEGO Speed Champions Mercedes-AMG G 63 & SL 63 Building Toys - Kids Pretend Play Toy Cars for Boys & Girls, Ages 10+ Years - Gifts for Christmas - 76924
  • 2 Mercedes toy cars for kids – LEGO Speed Champions Mercedes-AMG G 63 & Mercedes-AMG SL 63 vehicle playset for boys and girls ages 10 and up and adult model car collectors
  • 2 driver minifigures – Each buildable vehicle toy comes with a driver minifigure wearing a Mercedes outfit so kids can role-play fast-paced races
  • Authentic Mercedes design – Each collectible car model features design details from the real life versions, including front grilles, hoods, wheels, interior features and the famous Mercedes livery

The vehicle measures 208.1 inches long and has a wheelbase of 127.8 inches. Width is 79.9 inches, and height goes from 71.5 to 71.9 inches, depending on whether you choose 22- or 24-inch wheels. The Neolun comes with the larger wheels as standard. Its outside design appears to be inspired by traditional Korean moon jar pottery, with clean lines, many curves, and a lot of restraint. That all carries over to the Wing Face Micro Lens Array headlamps and the clamshell hood. A dual-layered chrome grille sits low in the bumper, while minimalist taillights complete the appearance. Overall, there are 16 exterior colors to choose from, including three matte variants.

Inside, things become interesting, as the flat floor and extended wheelbase provide an open, airy sensation that feels more like a living room than a three-row SUV. When you’re driving, the pop-up OLED display measures 23.6 inches, but when you stop, it increases to 24.6 inches. And, of course, the 25-inch head-up display replaces the standard speedometer cluster. Controls include the Crystal Sphere and the Motion Column Shifter, while the New Power Control System eliminates the old start button. Just grab the door handle, and it will start the car, close the door, and have everything ready for you.

The seats are quite fancy, with 15 separate air cells that provide a relaxing massage as well as pulse vibrations. Your ordinary interior concept is made up of materials such as quality leather, wool cashmere, natural wood, and even genuine stone, with the option of two-tone colors. The cabin also features Ambient Glow lighting throughout. Audio-wise, you get a Bang & Olufsen Premier system with 25 speakers that can easily handle Dolby Atmos. Sound-deadening materials and acoustic glass make the inside much quieter than expected.

The Neolun’s front seats can even swivel around 180 degrees, allowing you to park facing the opposite direction. And for those who truly want to go all out, the four-seat Executive Suite provides a full lounge experience. Real wood veneer flooring with a zing of heat from beneath your feet, as well as some very distinctive additions like a fridge and a Smart Vision Roof with six individual zones of adjustable transparency, is exactly what you’d expect from a luxury vehicle. Then there’s the Neolun’s limited First Edition, which includes all the bells and whistles. This includes two-tone paint, body-colored 24-inch forged wheels, a dab of wool cashmere for good measure, and exclusive embossing throughout, including on the controller, headrests, and doorsteps.

Power comes from a pair of electric motors that produce a whopping 657 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. its 123.5 kilowatt-hour battery pack is the largest Genesis has ever installed in one of its own electric vehicles. Based on internal testing, they estimate that the 7-seater will get them roughly 310 miles per tank, as long as you don’t have the AC on full blast like we all do. A 350 kilowatt fast charger can recharge a battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 22 minutes.

The GV90s has a lot of interesting safety features, including a 12-airbag system and what Genesis claims is the world’s first roof airbag, which is designed to protect you and your passengers if the car rolls over. Even before all of that kicks in, the GV90s have some serious crash protection, as they use a combination of lightweight aluminum and super-strong steel to absorb the impact, and just to make sure you’re all wearing your seatbelts properly, there’s an in-car monitoring system that keeps track of where everyone in the car is sitting and what they’re doing, all so it can adjust the airbag and restraint response accordingly.

The GV90s will be manufactured in Ulsan, South Korea, at one of Hyundai’s local plants. If everything goes as planned, they should arrive in the United States around 2027, when they will be sold as a 2027 model year vehicle. Hyundai hasn’t said how much they’ll cost just yet. However, experts estimate that a conventional-door GV90 would cost in the low six figures, and if you go for one of the finer trims, such as the Neolun or First Edition, it will most likely cost considerably more.
