Inside the Hausyacht 14 M, a German-Built Floating Home That Redefines Waterfront Living

Passion Yachts set out to build something that feels like a proper house yet moves when its owners want a change of scenery. The Hausyacht 14 M delivers exactly that on a 14.3-meter steel hull. It slips through European canals and protected waters with ease while giving residents the kind of daily comfort most land homes only promise.

Steel strengthens the hull and keeps the draft to a shallow 0.95m, allowing this vessel to access areas that larger boats can only dream of reaching. It’s a profile that allows you to go areas that other boats can’t, giving you access to a variety of hidden jewels. Width ranges from 4.5 to 4.95m depending on the particular specification, but it’s always thin enough to get through regular locks and mooring locations with ease, and because the overall height is low, most bridges aren’t an issue, but there’s still enough of headroom inside for comfort.



The main level is essentially one enormous glass surface with continuous views of the lake and sky. Up top, there’s an open flybridge accessible by a narrow stairwell, complete with seating, sunpads, and even a small eating area. The rear main deck is right outside the bedroom door, so you can have your morning coffee at water level. There is space for kayaks and paddleboards, and some models even have solar panels on the roof.


Hardwood flooring runs throughout the interior and provides a pleasant feel underfoot. The main living area seamlessly transitions into the dining area and a full kitchen with a nice long illuminated countertop ideal for grabbing a snack or enjoying a casual drink. You have a cooktop, an oven, a refrigerator, and you can even add a dishwasher or washing machine if desired. Of course, numerous layouts exist, but most people seem to prefer an open and bright environment with the ocean view front and center.


The bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows with coverings for solitude, and there is a cozy bathroom next door with the same calm, spa-like atmosphere. Some variants even include a second cabin for guests, and the dinette may be converted into additional sleeping space if necessary. The yacht can accommodate up to 12 people on day trips or short charters, but most owners prefer to keep things quiet, with only two or four people on board full-time.


Heating is provided by diesel, so you’ll be comfortable regardless of the season, and the engine has 105 horsepower, allowing you to cruise at a steady 6 knots or up to 8.5 knots flat out. The fuel capacity is roughly 500 liters, which gives you about 500 nautical miles of range, and you can even get a hybrid drive option if you want to cruise quieter or save gasoline in calm situations. Builders include a variety of practical features on request, such as hydraulic swim platforms and outdoor showers.


Each Hausyacht 14 M is made to order in Germany, allowing you to customize the finishing, equipment, and even minor layout changes. The top-of-the-line premium models cost around 585,000 euros, but you can have simpler builds for much less, sometimes as little as 365,000 euros depending on the trim and systems you want, and the greatest thing is that it seems bespoke without the trouble of creating a yacht from scratch.
