If you’re not familiar with the game Minecraft, it basically allows you to build just about anything with various different blocks in a 3D procedurally generated world. Whether it be houses, scenes from movies, or just random objects, your imagination is the limit. Architect Amey Kandalgaonkar imagines what such a house would look like in real-life, thus “House Inside a Rock” was created.
This conceptual home combines modern architecture with rock-cut structures, like the Al-Khazneh temple in Jordan or Saudia Arabia’s Madain Saleh, to create something that appears to be straight from the Minecraft universe. If this were to be made a reality, concrete would be mounted on the face of a large sandstone boulder, and from the ground, much of the living areas would be hidden. However, when you observe it from above, you see a beautiful pool, dining area, and multiple levels.
Yes, the pool even extends out over the edge of the large boulder, much like the ones you’ve seen at some famous hotels around the world. The architect did not mention how many entrances to the home there are, but if our observations are correct, there is just one at the ground level. Guests would either take the stairs up, or possibly an elevator.
